Types of Words of knowledge that you can receive
You can see a picture as a word of knowledge
Pictures can range from faint, static internal images to open visions in which a film screen type of picture is superimposed onto the reality in front of you.
In John 5:19 it says “”Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son does in like manner.”
Jesus seeing Nathanael under the fig tree is an example of this. John 1:47-51 “Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him, ‘Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit’ Nathanael said to Him, ‘How do You know me?’ Jesus answered and said to him. ‘Before Phillip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.’ Nathanael answered Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.’....Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? you will see greater things than these.”
Mark 11:1-7 is probably a picture/vision of the moving type.
“As they approached Jerusalem, at Bethpage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples, and said to them, ‘Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. If anyone says to you. ‘Why are you doing this?’ You say, ‘The Lord has need of it; and immediately he will send it back here.’ They went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street, and they untied it. Some of the bystanders were saying to them, ‘what are you doing untying the colt?’ They spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission.”
It is obvious here that Jesus had seen a vision of this happening prior to the event and he was able to describe what was going to happen accurately.
Paul’s vision of the man Macedonia in Acts 16:9 was one of these “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a certain man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him and saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”
You can have a feeling in your body as a word of knowledge
A healing word of knowledge will often present as a sympathetic pain in a part of the body i.e. you will feel pain in the same place that the person with the illness is feeling. It can come on suddenly and will not be a normal pain for you and will go when the person is healed. When you are praying for someone’s healing you will sometimes feel heat in your hands and they can feel heat in their bodies.
Hebrews 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (AKJV)
You can sense a word of knowledge
The Bible calls this perceiving
Acts 27:10 “And said to them, “Men, I perceive that the voyage will certainly be with damage and great loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.””
John 6:15 “So Jesus perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.”
You can say a word of knowledge
This sometimes happens spontaneously you can say something you do not naturally think – it just comes out. This often deals with inner healing.
Luke 12:12 “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
Rom 10:8 “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,”
You can read a word of knowledge
This can be a word or sentence superimposed over someone/something or a newsreader's type of moving text.
Daniel 5:5 “Suddenly the fingers of a man’s hand emerged and began writing opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, and the king saw the back of the hand that did the writing.”
You can dream about a word of knowledge
During this type of dream it is instructional. You will often be shown a situation and be given knowledge of how to react safely.
Matthew 2:13 “Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord *appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.””
